4 Ways to Whiten your Teeth
My smile is something I’ve always relied on if we’re being honest. As someone who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup and is on the *lazier side* LOL so to speak with their hair, I always count on my smile to shine through and make me look put together. This means keeping up with my dental care, and taking the steps I can to make my teeth as white and bright as they can be.
In the interest of keeping my teeth white without breaking the bank, the methods you will find below are super inexpensive and *really* easy. Today, I’m bringing you 4 different ways to whiten your teeth and ways to KEEP them white once you have them where you feel most confident! Let’s get to it.
1) Drink with a straw
This may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s something I had to *train* myself to do! While I’m not a big coffee drinker, when I realized that my daily cups of tea were taking a toll on how my teeth looked, I started to keep a straw handy at all times. Some typical drinks that stain your teeth are: coffee, tea, soda, juice, etc. Basically, any drink that is dark in color will stain your teeth if you drink it enough, so just being conscious of this really helps. With this method, you don’t have to cut these drinks out, just opt for a straw!
2) Investing in a good whitening kit
This one is huge! I know in the past teeth whitening has been seen as something that is expensive or a procedure you need a dentist to perform, but now there are so many amazing teeth whitening kit’s available over the counter. I’ve tried a few different ones, but my favorite thus far has been: ARC Whitestrips and Blue Light. I stumbled upon it in Target recently and was instantly intrigued seeing as it said it was “enamel-safe”.
I know we’ve all been there with DIY whitening treatments like charcoal, lemon, etc, but a lot of times, these methods aren’t safe for your enamel and can really damage your teeth, so I love that ARC is enamel safe. The entire process start to finish only takes around 30 minutes, so I love how easy it is. I saw results after 3 days of whitening.
3) Keep a toothbrush handy
As I’m sure many of you know if you follow me on Instagram, I’m currently going through the Invisalign process so brushing my teeth is something I do A LOT. I brush my teeth almost every time I eat, and whenever I take my retainers out. Getting into this habit really showed me how much the simple act of brushing can do. Ever since I’ve been brushing 1 or 2 extra times a day, I’ve gotten so many compliments about how bright my teeth look!
Pro tip: keep a travel brush with you! That way, you can brush your teeth after you’ve eaten something that will likely stain them, and your breath will always feel fresh. While this tip may seem small, it can really help to keep your teeth as white as can be after you’ve used a whitening kit.
4) Be Consistent
Like anything else in life, consistency is key! While all of these tips may feel like a lifestyle change at first, they really do become second nature and part of your daily routine the more you incorporate them. Since my smile is something I look to first when I’m looking in the mirror and in pictures, I like to do these simple things to keep it as white and shiny as can be.
Start off slow with these teeth whitening habits by throwing a re-useable straw into your purse or bag, and a travel toothbrush. I also like to set a reminder in my phone every half a year to pick up a whitening kit. As this is something that is an ongoing process, it’s important to keep at for a year-round gorgeous smile.
