Maple Sausage Patties

Maple syrup, sage, thyme and a little liquid smoke give a delightful flavor to these homemade sausage patties. They're always a treat, but especially alongside pancakes or French toast.

Ingreadient

    • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage
    • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
    • 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    • 1 to 2 teaspoons liquid smoke, optional
    • 1 pound ground pork

Step by step

    1. In a large bowl, mix maple syrup, salt, spices and, if desired, liquid smoke. Add the pork; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into eight 2-1/2-in. patties. Refrigerate, covered, at least 1 hour.
    2. In a large skillet coated with cooking spray, cook patties over medium heat until a thermometer reads 160°, 4-6 minutes per side.
