Sourdough French Toast
This sourdough French toast is sweet, tender, and tasty! It is great for weekend mornings or prepping ahead of time. Add your favorite toppings such as maple syrup, honey, fresh fruit, and peanut butter!
Ingreadient
- 4 slices day old sourdough bread
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp salt
- butter (to grease the pan)
- toppings (like maple syrup and berries)
Step by step
- First, preheat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- In a shallow dish or pie plate, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Dip each slice of sourdough bread into the egg mixture so that both sides are well coated. Allow the bread to soak in the mixture for a few seconds on each side, but do not let it become soggy.
- Grease the nonstick skillet or griddle with butter.
- Once the butter is melted, place the soaked slices of bread onto the skillet or griddle for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy.
- Remove from the skillet. Repeat the process with the remaining bread, greasing the skillet as needed.
- Finally, serve the sourdough French toast with your choice of toppings!
