Chilli cheese seeded sourdough toasted sandwich

In need of a tasty, speedy snack that packs a punch and is insta-worthy? Rustle up this fiery toastie in just 20 minutes with umami rich mature Cheddar and Gruyère.

Ingreadient

    • 8 slice/s No.1 Seeded Sourdough Bread
    • Butter, softened, for spreading
    • 180g mature Cheddar, grated
    • 200g Gruyère, grated
    • 1 red chilli, deseeded and thinly sliced

Step by step

    1. Heat a large, heavy-based griddle or frying pan over a medium-low heat. Butter the bread on both sides.
    2. Mix the cheeses together and divide between 4 slices of sourdough. Scatter over the chilli, then firmly press the remaining bread slices on top to make 4 sandwiches.
    3. Cook the sandwiches in the hot pan (you may need to do this in 2 batches) for 4-5 minutes each side, until the sourdough is crunchy and golden and the cheese has melted. Cut in half and serve immediately.
