Nutty Banana Split with Warm Chocolate Sauc
Support Fairtrade with this divine combination of bananas and chocolate.
Ingreadient
- 6 ripe Fairtrade Windwards bananas
- 500ml tub Waitrose Madagascan Vanilla Ice Cream
- 12 Waitrose Provençal Natural Colour Cherries, halved
- 25g whole shelled Brazil nuts, roughly sliced
- 100g bar Divine Fairtrade Milk Chocolate
- 25g butter
- 25g Billington's Fairtrade Demerara Sugar
- 1 tbsp golden syrup
- 2 tbsp semi-skimmed milk
Step by step
- Make the chocolate sauce by placing the chocolate, butter, sugar and golden syrup in a heatproof bowl over a pan of barely simmering water. Do not allow the bowl to come into contact with the water.
- Heat gently, stirring occasionally, until all the ingredients have melted and are thoroughly combined. Stir in the milk and keep the sauce warm by leaving over the warm water but turning off the heat until ready to serve.
- Assemble the banana splits by peeling and halving the bananas lengthways and placing each one in a banana split dish or shallow bowl. Place 2 scoops of ice cream between each banana, top with the warm sauce and scatter with the cherries and Brazils.
